Eye and Vision Exams & Contact Lens Exams

Our Sikeston optometrist uses a wide variety of tests to assess your visual acuity and overall eye health. Comprehensive vision exams include an acuity test, color test, Ocular motility (eye movement) test, and a retinoscopy, which will help us obtain an approximation of your correct eyeglass prescription. Next, our eye doctor in Poplar Bluff will use a refraction test to fine-tune your prescription. We will ask you to look through a series of lenses and based on your answers, our eye doctor will fine-tune the lens power until we arrive at your exact prescription.

Pre and Post Op Care for LASIK

Our eye care team offers pre-LASIK evaluations to determine if you are a good candidate for treatment. We also provide post-op care to help manage temporary dryness and/or tearing/watering, assess the effectiveness of the procedure, and ensure a smooth recovery process.

Hard to Fit Contacts

Have you been told that your eyes are “hard to fit” for contacts? This doesn’t mean you can never wear contacts– it just means you need an experienced eye care team to properly fit you for the right lenses. Severe astigmatism, presbyopia, keratoconus, and dry eyes are common conditions requiring special hard to fit contact lenses. Our eye doctor has special expertise in contact lens fitting, including gas permeable contact lenses and scleral contact lenses.

Ortho-K for Poplar Bluff & Sikeston

Wish you did not have to wear contacts or glasses but not comfortable with LASIK? You may be a good candidate for Ortho-K. This treatment uses specialty overnight lenses to gently reshape your retina while you sleep. When you awake, you enjoy near-perfect vision during the day. Studies also show that Ortho-K in teens may help to slow vision deterioration. Talk to our eye doctor about whether you are a good candidate for Ortho-K.

Diagnosis and Management of Eye Diseases

Cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration are three common age-related eye diseases that can seriously damage your vision. Early diagnosis and management is essential to preventing irreversible vision loss and blindness. Our optometrist recommends regular screenings for older adults and individuals with a high-risk profile. While the possibility of vision loss is indeed scary, once you have been diagnosed, we can take appropriate steps to protect your eyesight.
