Meet Dr. Daniel R. Obermark as he shares his educational, personal and professional background. Dr. "O" looks forward to meeting you in person and caring for your eye health care at his office in Sikeston or at Plaza Optical in Poplar Bluff.
Growing up in Union Missouri, a town of about 5200 one hour west of St. Louis, I wanted to raise my family in an area with small town values where residents grow to know and work along side each other.
I attended college at Oklahoma State University and graduated from University of Missouri College of Optometry in 1990. After six years of practice with Group Health Plan, a multi-specialty group with offices throughout St. Louis, I saw an opportunity in Sikeston and opened my own practice in 1996. We care for all ages emphasizing early detection and treatment of eye diseases, especially in children and seniors when the risks of eye disorders are greatest.
I believe that associating with groups of successful doctors promotes good care of our patients and therefore I am an active member of the American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association, Southeast Optometric Society, and American Public Health Association.
Equally important is caring for our community. I am a member of Lions, Knights of Columbus, Jaycees, Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce, and Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce.
I served on the Missouri Optometric Association Board of Directors from 1992-1995 and Southeast Optometric Society from 1996 to present. Vision USA is an American Optometric Association program in which member doctors volunteer to provide eye health care free of charge to qualifying working people who cannot afford health insurance. I am the Missouri state coordinator for Vision USA.
I served on Notre Dame High School Board from 1999-2004 and currently serve on St. Francis Xavier School Board.
My wife, Anne, and I have four children. Cassidy is a sophomore at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Jon is a freshman at Tulsa University, Katie is in eighth grade at St. Francis Xavier and Jim is in seventh grade.
We sponsor Sikeston Area Youth Baseball, Sikeston Youth Soccer, USSSA Baseball, and I am a licensed coach under Missouri Youth Soccer Association.
